A few things worth knowing before choosing your jewelry.
How do I choose the right engagement ring?
Start with the person who will wear it. Consider their preferred metal color, overall style, lifestyle, ring shape, and whether they tend to favor classic, modern, vintage-inspired, delicate, or more substantial jewelry.
From there, we can help you compare diamond shape, cut, color, clarity, carat weight, setting style, and budget. You do not need to arrive knowing all of the terminology.

How can I determine my ring size?
The most accurate option is to have your finger professionally measured. If you already own a ring that fits correctly, its inside diameter can also provide a useful reference.
Keep in mind that wider bands can fit differently from narrow rings, and finger size can vary slightly with temperature and time of day.

Do you offer financing?
Yes. Eligible purchases may qualify for Shop Pay Installments, which allows you to divide a purchase into biweekly or monthly payments.
Available terms depend on purchase amount and eligibility. Monthly plans may carry interest. All available payment terms are shown before you complete checkout.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
Gift presentation is available for many Robinson's Jewelers purchases. If your order is a gift or you have a special request, contact us and we will be happy to help.
Can you help me find something that is not shown online?
Absolutely. Our online catalog is extensive, but jewelry sourcing does not stop with what happens to be visible on the website.

What are the 4Cs of a diamond?
The 4Cs are Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight.
- Cut affects how effectively a diamond handles light.
- Color describes the presence or absence of body color.
- Clarity evaluates internal and external characteristics.
- Carat measures weight, not face-up diameter.
What is the difference between natural and lab-grown diamonds?
Natural and lab-grown diamonds are both diamonds. They have the same basic crystal structure and very similar optical and physical properties.
The primary difference is origin. Natural diamonds form through geological processes within the Earth, while lab-grown diamonds are produced using technology that recreates conditions in which diamond crystal can grow.
Natural diamonds offer geological rarity and a long-established collector and secondary market. Lab-grown diamonds generally offer substantially more size or quality for the same budget.
What diamond shapes are available?
Popular shapes include round, oval, emerald, pear, cushion, radiant, princess, marquise, Asscher, and heart.
Shape is primarily a matter of personal preference. Different shapes also distribute their carat weight differently, so diamonds of equal weight can appear noticeably different in face-up size.
Are your diamonds conflict-free?
Robinson's works with established jewelry and diamond suppliers and supports responsible sourcing practices, including compliance with applicable requirements relating to conflict diamonds.
The Kimberley Process applies specifically to rough diamonds, so we avoid making the broader claim that every colored gemstone is covered by that system.
What gemstones do you carry?
Robinson's carries jewelry featuring a very broad range of gemstones, including sapphire, ruby, emerald, aquamarine, opal, pearl, amethyst, garnet, topaz, peridot, tourmaline, tanzanite, and many less-common stones.
Availability changes constantly, especially within estate and one-of-a-kind jewelry.
Is a jewelry appraisal the same as a diamond grading report?
No. A laboratory grading report documents gemological characteristics such as a diamond's color, clarity, proportions, and measurements.
A jewelry appraisal is a valuation document prepared for a particular purpose, such as insurance replacement.

Wearing and Caring for Fine Jewelry
What metals are commonly used in fine jewelry?
Common fine-jewelry metals include yellow, white, and rose gold; platinum; sterling silver; and, in some designs, alternative metals such as titanium or stainless steel.
Each differs in color, weight, hardness, maintenance, and price. The best choice depends on the design and how the jewelry will be worn.
What do 585, 750, and 925 mean on jewelry?
These numbers usually indicate metal fineness:
- 585 = 58.5% gold, commonly 14K gold
- 750 = 75% gold, commonly 18K gold
- 925 = 92.5% silver, commonly sterling silver
- 950 is commonly seen on high-purity platinum jewelry
Marks can vary by country, manufacturer, period, and metal. A stamp alone should not be treated as absolute proof of composition.
What is rhodium plating?
Rhodium is a bright white metal from the platinum group. It is often applied as a thin surface coating to white-gold jewelry to create a brighter, whiter finish.
Because plating gradually wears with use, white-gold jewelry may periodically need replating.
How should I clean diamond jewelry at home?
For many sturdy diamond pieces, warm water, a small amount of mild dish soap, and a soft brush can remove normal buildup. Rinse well and dry with a soft lint-free cloth.
Not every gemstone or jewelry construction should be cleaned the same way. Pearls, opals, emeralds, antique jewelry, treated stones, and delicate pieces may require special care.
How often should I have my jewelry professionally inspected?
Frequently worn jewelry, especially rings with diamonds or gemstones, should be inspected periodically for worn prongs, loose stones, weak clasps, and other developing problems.
Annual inspection is a reasonable general guideline, with more frequent checks for heavily worn pieces.
How should jewelry be stored?
Store pieces separately when possible so gemstones and metal surfaces cannot rub against one another. Keep chains secured to reduce tangling and store jewelry in a clean, dry environment.
Pearls and certain gemstones require different storage considerations, so ask us if you are unsure about a particular piece.

Do you repair jewelry?
Yes. Robinson's provides services including ring sizing, stone setting, prong repair, chain and clasp repair, polishing, rhodium plating, antique restoration, pearl restringing, and more.
Repairs are evaluated individually before work begins.
Can you create custom jewelry?
Yes. We can design a completely new piece, modify an existing concept, or redesign inherited jewelry using stones you already own.
CAD modeling can allow you to review the design and proportions before production begins.
Do you offer jewelry appraisals?
Yes. Robinson's provides professional jewelry appraisal services guided by Andrew Robinson, GIA Graduate Gemologist.
Appraisal type depends on the purpose, including insurance replacement, fair market value, or other valuation needs.
Do you offer engraving?
Engraving is available for many jewelry items. Feasibility depends on the piece, available surface area, material, and desired engraving. Contact us with the item and what you would like engraved.
Can you inspect jewelry I purchased somewhere else?
Yes. You do not need to have purchased a piece from Robinson's to ask about repair, appraisal, cleaning, restoration, or other service work.

How do you ship orders?
Robinson's offers free expedited shipping within the U.S. using FedEx and UPS. Processing is generally 1–2 business days, although certain collections and special-order items may require additional fulfillment time.
We do not ship to P.O. boxes, APO/FPO addresses, or freight forwarders.
What is your return policy?
Return eligibility, timing, and exclusions depend on the item and order circumstances.

Can I order online and still talk to a real person?
Absolutely. Robinson's is a family-owned jewelry store, not an anonymous marketplace. Call, email, or chat with us if you want help before or after placing an online order.

Yes. Robinson's buys fine jewelry, diamonds, gold, precious metals, luxury watches, estate jewelry, coins, and many other valuables.
Do I need an appraisal before selling jewelry?
No. A retail insurance appraisal and a purchase offer answer two different questions.
If you want to sell an item, we can evaluate it directly and discuss the factors affecting what we can offer.
Do you buy broken or damaged jewelry?
Yes. Depending on the piece, value may come from the precious metal, diamonds, gemstones, brand, watch movement, collectibility, or the jewelry as a complete item.
Do you buy pre-owned Rolex and other luxury watches?
Yes. Robinson's buys pre-owned luxury watches, including Rolex. Condition, reference, configuration, completeness, age, and current market demand can all affect value.
